Sōgi's yuki-onna, nearly transparent, gone when looked at
What the record says
The poet Sōgi, in Echigo, saw a yuki-onna with skin so pale it seemed transparent, in a single unlined white robe. When he tried to look closely she was gone. The people of the place told him the next day that she appeared only rarely, in years of heavy snow.
