The umi-bōzu borrows the bailer and sinks the boat
What the record says
The umi-bōzu comes to the boat and asks to borrow the akatori, the bailer, and threatens to sink the boat if refused. Lend it, and it bails seawater into the boat and sinks it. Some say it is the soul of a dead person. To avoid such disasters, fishermen enshrined Funadama-sama on the boat and prayed.
