The room where Mitsukuni once slept
What the record says
Anyone who slept in the formal room of the three-hundred-year-old main house, pulled down four or five years earlier, was turned in the night: laid down with their head to the south, they woke with it to the north. Perhaps, the speaker thought, because Mito Mitsukuni had once stayed there and the room was not to be slept in.
